She worked as an assistant director of a preschool academy during the same year. In 2018 she was recommended by Professor Hampton to apply for a merit tuition-based program at NAU which paid for her accelerated master\u2019s degree in CTE, with emphasis on education and training. In 2019 she graduated as an honor student, and immediately after, she started her journey as a high school English educator for high-risk communities and ELL students at Ombudsman Educational Services.<\/p>\n<p>During the school year of 2019-2021, she earned recognition as a Microsoft Innovative Educator. In the following school year, she was recognized by Chancelight Education and Ombudsman Educational Services as employee of the year on Innovation in Education for her commitment to providing Ombudsman students with innovative learning opportunities that encourage students\u2019 creativity and critical thinking. During the year of 2021-2022, she was recognized by Microsoft Education with an international credential as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. Delia is now working at a Microsoft Showcase School through Ombudsman Educational Services, and during the weekends she volunteers at a middle age learning program that assists immigrants. She has also collaborated with deputies from the Union Congress in Mexico as a voice representative of the International Student Organization for the Sonora Arizona Program in her hometown, advocating for students and educators from Mexico during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<!-- shortcode-block-quote -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-block-quote shortcode-block-quote--left\">\n    <div class=\"shortcode-block-quote__inner-container\">\n        <span>\nThe CTE program at NAU prepared me with an education for life. The combination of academics and technical skills that I acquired gave me the confidence and skills to motivate and recognize my students\u2019 needs.\n<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row bg-color-nau-blue\"><div class=\"eplus-bg-color-row-content\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3846 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/department-educational-specialties\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/Robert-Parks-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/Robert-Parks-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/Robert-Parks-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Robert Parks<\/h3>\n<p>Robert has been teaching high school CTE courses for 20 years at Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore, California. Since completing his Masters in Career and Technical Education at NAU in 2017, Robert started the Titan Engineering and Technology Academy at Temescal Canyon High School. It is a four-year program that combines math, science, engineering and computer science classes for our students. Students earn college credit while in the program, numerous professional certifications, and participate in enrichment projects and trips related to engineering. The school has been recognized by the Haas Technical Education Network as an outstanding CTE instruction. Thanks to the NAU grant writing course, they secured more than $75,000 dollars\u2019 worth of grant funding from the Gene Haas Foundation. Robert has been invited as a guest speaker at several CTE conferences to share his experiences in CTE, many of which were made possible due to his NAU master\u2019s degree in CTE. In 2018, he was named Teacher of the Year due to his work in developing the engineering academy.<\/p>\n<!-- shortcode-block-quote -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-block-quote shortcode-block-quote--left\">\n    <div class=\"shortcode-block-quote__inner-container\">\n        <span>\nThe material I studied in the NAU masters program, which included a course in CTE Facilities, was a tremendous asset to me when working with the construction teams and architects.\n<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Who&#8217;s who<\/h2>\n<div class='shortcode-column-container'><!-- shortcode-column -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-column shortcode-column--count-3\">\n    \n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4006\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/department-educational-specialties\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/James-Byrne-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/James-Byrne-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/363\/James-Byrne.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>James Byrne<\/h4>\n<p>Graduating with his BSED in 2019, James was one of NAU\u2019s 28 Gold Axe recipients, an award recognizing the most and distinguished seniors from each college that year. It represents his outstanding achievements and service to the university and community. From there he jumped right into a master&#8217;s, which he completed in 2018.
