For information regarding how the curricular requirements for this degree program align to licensure or certification requirements in other states, see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/compliance-and-authorization\/professional-licensure-by-state\/\">https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/compliance-and-authorization\/professional-licensure-by-state\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Board Certified Behavior Analyst<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> (BCBA) program<\/h3>\n<p>Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is an approach to improving human behavior by making challenging behavior unnecessary and preferred behavior easy and effective. This involves the combined efforts of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping people improve the quality of their lives (personal, health, social, family, etc), and<\/li>\n<li>Replacing challenging behavior with socially acceptable alternative behavior.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><P><\/P><\/p>\n<p>The NAU PBS Graduate Certificate program meets BACB 6th ed <em>Test Content Outline<\/em> (TCO) and 2027 BACB coursework eligibility requirements to apply to take the national exam. NAU graduates apply for the BACB exam under \u201c<strong>Pathway 2.<\/strong>\u201d The ABA Program Coordinator is a qualified Pathway 2 Program Contact registered with the BACB who will submit coursework attestations. Documentation of completed supervised experience must be submitted along with the degree and coursework information when applying to take the exam. Pass rates for students who have taken the national examination can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bacb.com\/university-pass-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. Becoming a BCBA may or may not meet licensing requirements in all states. Consult with your state licensing agency for additional information.<\/p>\n<p><P><\/P><\/p>\n<p>After December 31, 2031, the PBS Graduate Certificate will no longer meet BACB exam eligibility requirements. Starting January 2032 individuals wishing to take the BACB exam must complete an accredited master\u2019s degree program in Applied Behavior Analysis to apply to take the exam. See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbis.org\/\">this website<\/a>\u00a0for more information. Attention is focused on understanding the conditions in the environment that contribute to challenging behavior<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">,<\/span> and modifying those conditions to strengthen desirable behavior. Our graduates help parents, teachers, and others who support people with disabilities and challenging behavior.\u00a0NAU has been ranked one of the best 62 schools with 100% online Graduate Certificate programs by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.appliedbehavioranalysisedu.org\/62-best-schools-with-100-online-aba-masters-and-certificate-programs\/\">Applied Behavior Analysis Edu Organization.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><P><\/P><\/p>\n<h3>Application deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>You may begin this program in either the summer, fall, or spring semesters. Be sure to complete your\u00a0<a title=\"program application\" href=\"https:\/\/www.applyweb.com\/northazg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">program application<\/a> early so you have time to register for classes.
