These requests are not always approved, and sometimes students will be encouraged to consider an alternative class. The request for a capacity override is made via email to the course instructor at FIRST.LAST@nau.edu<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Individualized study arrangements must go through the faculty member that you will work with as well as the EDL Department Chair. Registration for an independent study requires department consent.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n We generally follow a consistent course rotation, with most classes offered at least once per semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). If you have any questions concerning which classes may be offered in the future, contact your academic advisor at FIRST.LAST@nau.edu<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n The department does offer a limited number of tuition waivers each year, and they are awarded based on a standard application process that occurs around April for the following academic year. NAU tuition waivers are scholarships which pay for all or part of a student’s tuition. For online students, tuition waivers pay for up to 9 credits per Spring\/Fall semesters. See SDAS online tuition rates<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n To be awarded a tuition waiver, students must be full-time<\/a>, graduate degree-seeking students, and in good academic standing. These awards may be based on academic merit, financial need, and\/or other institutional priorities. They are available to both resident and non-resident graduate students. Please make sure you have submitted unofficial transcripts showing previously earned degrees as well as teaching credentials as needed within the EDL applications. Incomplete applications can cause processing delays.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n A maximum of nine hours (25 percent of your total hours) may be transferred from another institution. The courses must be relevant to your course of study and taken within previous 10 years, or be part of a previously-completed master’s degree. Your academic advisor can review your previous transcripts to determine possible transfers.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Yes. Most of our master’s programs can be completed entirely online. Only coursework taken at NAU in pursuit of the superintendent certificate plan may transfer into the K12 doctoral program.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Only coursework taken at NAU in pursuit of the superintendent certificate plan may transfer into the doctoral program within the K-12 emphasis. There is no guarantee of acceptance into the doctoral program due to the completion of such courses.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Doctoral students in EDL meet the residency requirement by taking required classes that have in-person meetings on selected weekends during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Upon admission to the doctoral program, you will receive a schedule of these class meetings.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n The first semester of classes for our doctoral programs is the summer following acceptance into the program.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n No. A few limited classes are available online, but most of our doctoral classes meet with a hybrid schedule that includes both online and limited weekend in-person meetings. Generally, the weekend classes during Fall and Spring semesters meet in the greater Phoenix area, while the Summer weekend classes meet in Flagstaff.
