Alex Alvarez co-organized and participated in the Martin Springer Institute Symposium entitled “Colonial Conquest in the American West and Nazi East.” His book, Native Americans & Question of Genocide, is now featured in the Walnut Canyon Monument bookstore.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
Brooke de Heer (with Lynn Jones) published their research “Investigating the self-protective potential of immobility in victims of rape,” to Violence and Victims<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Christy Arazan was awarded $11,990 by the NAU’s faculty grant program to fund “Changing Social Norms: An Assessment of a Bystander Intervention Training.”<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Dennis Catlin will be honored for 15 years of service at the April Arizona Transfer Summit and Awards Gala.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Linda Robyn has accepted a presidential appointment to serve on the newly formed NAU Native American Commission.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Luis Fernandez is the incoming elected president of the Society for the Study of Social Problems. Dr. Fernandez has also been promoted to the rank of Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at NAU.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Lynn Jones (with Brooke de Heer) published their research on campus climate surveys:”Measuring Sexual Violence on Campus: Climate Surveys and Vulnerable Groups.” Journal of School Violence: Special Issue on Campus Sexual Assault<\/em>, (2017)<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Marianne Nielsen presented “Indigenous Boarding and Residential Schools: Accessory to Murder, Accessory to Rape” at the Western Sociology of Criminology Annual Conference in Vancouver Canada. Dr. Nielsen’s article “Aboriginal Healing Lodges in Canada: Still Going Strong?” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Legal Pluralism<\/span>. Dr. Nielsen and Karen Jarratt-Snider (NAU AIS) contracted with the UofA Press for a series of edited collections about Indigenous Justice.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Nancy Wonders has a publication forthcoming: Wonders, Nancy A. (2016) “Just-in-Time Justice: Globalization and the Changing Character of Law, Order, and Power.” Critical Criminology<\/span> 24(2).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Phoebe Morgan facilitated a workshop for NAU’s Human Resource Department retreat entitled “What’s Your Conflict Management Style?” and gave a talk entitled “The CCJ Curriculum Map Experience” for NAU’s Faculty Development Series. Dr. Morgan was named by Evan Lim, a 2016 Golden Axe awardee, as his most influential faculty member during his time at NAU.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Ray Michalowski published a book chapter entitled “Peace and Security in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands,” in L. Weber (ed.)
