NAU students seeking degrees with CCJ have law enforcement internships available<\/h2>\n
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at NAU has many internship opportunities available to students. If working in law enforcement is of interest to you, the following internships are options worth exploring.<\/p>\n

The DEA is responsible for the control of illicit substances both nationally and internationally. Duties of the DEA include:<\/p>\n
\n
enforcement of U.S. drug laws<\/li>\n
seizure and forfeiture of profit associated with drug trafficking<\/li>\n
investigation and preparation for the prosecution of high-level members of drug trafficking organizations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The DEA does not accept internship applications. However, if you are an intern with the Flagstaff Police Department<\/a>, you’ll be offered an opportunity to perform activities with the DEA in addition to your regular duties.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

If you’re selected, you’ll spend a semester in Washington, DC, where you will observe and take part in many of the activities associated with the FBI, such as multi-jurisdictional investigations and tax law enforcement. The U.S. Marshals Service (CSCEP is not currently available as the U.S. Marshals are under a hiring freeze; internship opportunities still do exist with the U.S. Marshals though not the formalized CSCEP program).<\/em><\/p>\n
Applications for U.S. Marshals internships<\/a> are competitive. The Centralized Student Career Experience Program (CSCEP) is a cooperative education program that prepares college students for Deputy U.S. Marshal (DUSM) positions. The program accepts students pursuing degrees in:<\/p>\n
\n
criminal justice<\/li>\n
political science<\/li>\n
psychology<\/li>\n
public administration<\/li>\n
sociology<\/li>\n
social sciences with a concentration in one of the majors listed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Eligibility requirements include:<\/p>\n

at least 20 years of age<\/li>\n
U.S. citizen<\/li>\n
at least a half-time student<\/li>\n
have and maintain a 3.0 GPA in major and overall GPA of 2.75<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
You will need to:<\/p>\n

meet all eligibility requirements<\/li>\n
pass a structured interview<\/li>\n
pass a full-field background investigation<\/li>\n
pass a complete physical examination<\/li>\n
pass a physical fitness (FIT) test<\/li>\n
be approved by the Operational Review Panel (ORP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This is a paid position with benefits. If you successfully complete the program, you will be offered a Deputy Marshal’s position at the end of the internship. You should apply early in your junior year to participate in the internship as a senior.
