Each film shows a unique perspective on the power of journalism and the media: some use it to create, while others abuse it to destroy. In one feature, All the President’s Men, audiences follow the journey of the two reporters who broke the news of the Watergate scandal. Releasing this information to the public had an immense impact on American politics. Citizens learned to no longer blindly trust those in power and instead pushed for transparency. On the flip side, in the film Network, a power hungry news anchor proposes the idea of turning televised news into for-profit entertainment. While it is a fictional story, viewers will take away a real world lesson: sometimes news can be twisted to manipulate an audience and garner profit.

No matter which films you watch, we can guarantee you will walk away with a deepened respect for the importance and power of journalism.
