Celebrating the Life and Work of Dr. Leila Monaghan<\/h1>\n

Dr. Leila Monaghan\u2019s contribution as a linguistic anthropologist and activist was far-reaching, with most of her writing and research in the areas of deaf sociality, disability justice, equity, and social justice. As a teacher, and colleague, Leila was kind, fun, compassionate, and an ardent supporter of her friends, students, and colleagues. As a scholar, her work contributed to disrupting and transforming unjust social institutions, as shown in the titles of books she edited and articles she published including \u201cmany ways of being deaf\u201d and \u201cdeaf cultures in global perspective\u201d.<\/p>\n
