The Dental Hygiene Completion Program is specifically designed for individuals who are currently on a waiting list for Dental Hygiene School, those who are enrolled in Dental Hygiene School, or working professionals who have completed their studies as registered dental hygienists at a CODA-accredited institution and wish to pursue a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Dental Hygiene.<\/p>\n
This program is offered entirely online, with no required campus visits or clinical components.<\/p>\n
Students enjoy the flexibility to complete coursework at their own pace without a rigid timeline. You may begin the program while enrolled in a Dental Hygiene program, immediately after graduation, or even after taking time away from school.<\/p>\n
Time to completion varies based on your selected pathway, personal goals, work schedule, and other commitments. A conservative estimate for completion is approximately two years. However, some students accelerate their progress by taking a heavier course load, while others may extend their timeline to three years or longer to better accommodate their schedules.<\/p>\n
Designed with working Registered Dental Hygienists (RDHs) and students in mind, the program prioritizes convenience and accessibility. All coursework is delivered through Canvas, a user-friendly and easily accessible online learning platform.<\/p>\n
Depending on your academic background, you may need to complete additional courses to meet specific university requirements. After an official transcript evaluation, an academic advisor will provide personalized guidance regarding any outstanding coursework. To help reduce costs, students may complete equivalent transferable courses at local community colleges prior to enrolling at Northern Arizona University (NAU).<\/p>\n
Students may transfer up to 90 credits to NAU and will complete 30 additional credits to earn the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree. For those with fewer than 90 transferable credits, up to 26 non-traditional credits may be awarded for graduation from a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program.<\/p>\n
The required 30 NAU credits include:<\/p>\n
21 credits<\/strong> of Core Dental Hygiene courses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n 9 additional units from the following list: <\/strong>DH 402, DH 436, DH 446, DH 456, DH 476, OR if you have remaining General Studies, we can find upper division courses at NAU to satisfy General Studies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n One of the key advantages of applying to our program is the opportunity to earn non-traditional credits. If you transfer to Northern Arizona University (NAU) with fewer than 90 credits, we can assess your state licensure to potentially award non-traditional credits. You may be eligible for up to 26 credit hours at no cost to you.<\/p>\n The total number of credits you need to complete at NAU will depend on the transfer credits you receive from your previous coursework, as well as the remaining credits required.
