It gives students the opportunity to contribute to life on campus, outside of the classroom. Clubs help students build community and connect with others who share similar interests and passions. <\/span><span style=\"text-align: center;\">I am an out of state student and I struggled to find a place where I felt like I belonged on campus. When I first moved to Flagstaff, I did not know anyone, and it was not until I joined my sorority and got involved with ASNAU that I made incredible friendships. These include any organization that is affiliated with an academic program or college.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advocacy <\/strong>student organizations are those that advocate for a particular cause or population of students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cultural <\/strong>student organizations represent and promote the traditions and activities associated with a particular culture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fraternity and Sorority <\/strong>groups are associated with national social Greek-letter fraternities and sororities that select membership through a bid process.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recreation\/Game <\/strong>student organizations focus on recreational activities and games in a noncompetitive atmosphere<\/li>\n<li><strong>Religious <\/strong>student organizations may also register with the Office of the Dean of Students. Although the university, as a state institution, is prohibited from promoting religious activities, it recognizes the importance of religion and spirituality in the life and education of its students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Representative <\/strong>student organizations are those elected bodies that represent the general student population.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Residence Hall Councils <\/strong>are groups that represent the concerns and interests of a particular residence hall.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service\/Honorary <\/strong>student organizations are academically focused groups that limit membership based on certain requirements of community service oriented groups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Special Interest <\/strong>are not connected to an academic program or college. They serve the needs of students with specific special interests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sport Club<\/strong> organizations are sports teams or groups engaged in active practice and competition against other schools or individuals.
