A note from the Student Body President
It is with great excitement and pride that I welcome you to our official ASNAU website! This has been a long time in the making so we hope our hard work will make navigating our resources a lot easier! As ASNAU President for the 2021-2022 school year, I would like to share a brief version of the vision for this term. Personally, I am working on building stronger student to university relationships, promoting affordability on and off campus, increasing transparency within our university communications, and inspiring meaningful policy change. Along this road I have encountered students that would like to increase mental health and sexual assault awareness, create more inclusion with a focus on disabilities, make NAU more environmentally friendly, and reassess our student fees. This office offers flexibility, and because of my mission to work for and alongside student interests, our team is always spearheading new projects.
Now, I would be doing this organization a disservice if I didn’t brag about how awesome it is. ASNAU is my favorite organization on campus because of its attraction to students of all backgrounds, majors, ages, and interests. Truly, I have never been on a team that is as diverse as this one. In part, I think this culture has been fostered through the wide range of opportunities we offer in this office. From Sustainability and Diversity Coordinators, to Freshman looking to get involved, to friendly first-time front desk and Club Headquarters (CHQ) staff, and close administrative friendships, our office is rich with authenticity. If you are looking for a fulfilling workplace, I would encourage you to apply for an ASNAU position on Handshake!
As always, contact us anytime. Reach out to our team and visit this site as much as you’d like!
I hope your time at NAU adds value to your life and cultivates success for future endeavors!
Maylee Acosta, Class of 2022, Political Science Major
