CSD Students in the news
Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northern Arizona University
The Communication Sciences and Disorders department at NAU provides undergraduate classroom and clinical practicum experiences in a variety of ways through:
- our undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders,
- a plan that advances students toward applying for licensure as a speech-language pathology assistant,
- a certificate program that creates a pathway for non-CSD majors to fulfill the prerequisite courses required for admission to a graduate degree program in order to enter the workforce as a speech-language pathologist, and
- our fully-operational clinic.
We invite you to explore all of the options and links below.
Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Learn about human communication disorders while you earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Communication Sciences & Disorders undergraduate degree.
In this program, you will dive into speech-language pathology and gain experience in the realm of audiology through a program of 27 credit hours in Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) courses. Online and on-campus classes give you the foundation you need to apply for our Master of Science in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology graduate program. For more information about the BS degree, click here.
Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Certificate
If you are interested in becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) and working as support personnel to a speech-language pathologist, this program may be right for you. Given busy lifestyles, many prefer the flexibility of choosing online courses.
The SLPA certificate meets the technical credit-hours requirement for the State of Arizona, as well as the recommendations of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. For more information about the SLPA program, click here.
Speech-Language Pathology Graduate School Preparation (SLPGSP) Certificate
The Speech-Language Pathology Graduate School Preparation (SLPGSP) undergraduate certificate is designed for students who have completed, or are in the process of completing, a bachelor’s degree in a non-CSD major and are seeking a pathway to fulfill the prerequisite courses required for admission to a graduate degree program and enter the workforce as a speech-language pathologist. The SLPGSP certificate is not eligible for financial aid unless the student is enrolled in another degree program (another major at NAU). Click here for more information about the SLP Graduate School Preparation certificate.
