Conducts monitoring following established protocols for collection of environmental data including water quality, aquatic macro-invertebrates, physical habitat, and springs ecosystems. Position is 90% field based.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\nBachelor&#8217;s degree in biology, ecology, aquatic ecology, hydrology, or environmental sciences AND a minimum of 1 year of related research or experience;\u00a0 OR four years research or work experience in biology, ecology, aquatic ecology, hydrology, or environmental sciences; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and\/or education<br \/>\n<strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\nOne year of specialized experience as a Biological Technician with duties related to this position; OR one year related research experience or master\u2019s degree in biology, botany, ecology or environmental science; AND experience with methods, procedure and techniques of collection of aquatic macroinvertebrates, water quality, No and ecological data; AND experience using maps, compasses and GPS units to navigate in the field; AND experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software; AND field experience working in remote backcountry settings under sometimes harsh field conditions.<br \/>\n<strong>Knowledge, skills and abilities:<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowledge in the following subject areas related to the Colorado Plateau: upland ecosystems with an emphasis on hydrology, aquatic ecology and water quality. Experience with methods, procedures, and techniques for collection of aquatic macroinvertebrates, water quality, and ecological data.\u00a0 Skills conducting field research in ecological, biological or environmental fields. Ability to recognize and adapt to unusual conditions or data encountered in the normal course of work.\u00a0 Extreme attention to detail, superior organization skills, and record keeping.\u00a0 Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
