REQUEST FOR STATEMENTS OF INTEREST<\/strong>
\nNUMBER W9126G-19-2-SOI-1317<\/strong>
\nPROJECT TO BE INITIATED IN 2019<\/strong>
\nProject Title:<\/strong> Natural Resource Environmental Services for Kirtland AFB
\nResponses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential
\ninvestigators for a project to be funded by Kirtland AFB which provides professional and
\ntechnical support for its Natural Resources Projects in order to facilitate successful
\nimplementation of the 16 USC 670c-1 Sikes Act. Approximately $450,000 is expected to be
\navailable to support this project. Additional funding may be available for follow on work in
\nsubsequent fiscal years to the successful Recipient\/Awardee.
\nBackground:<\/strong>
\nThe Kirtland AFB environmental program ensures military mission activities are conducted in
\ncompliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies. Numerous native
\nwildlife species and ecosystems exist on Kirtland AFB. These include the Loggerhead Shrike,
\nDesert Massasauga, Wetlands\/Floodplains, Burrowing Owls, Gray Vireo, Pinyon Jay, Migratory
\nSong Birds, and Cougars. Of the nine (9) objectives for this project, there is one (1) required task
\n(Loggerhead Shrike) and the eight (8) remaining are optional tasks.
\nNote:<\/strong> A full study proposal and proposed budget are NOT requested at this time.
\nReview of Statements Received: All statements of interest received will be evaluated by a
\nboard comprised of one or more people at the receiving installation or activity, who will
\ndetermine which statement(s) best meet the program objectives. Based on a review of the
\nStatements of Interest received, an investigator or investigators will be invited to prepare a full
\nstudy proposal. Statements will be evaluated based on the investigator\u2019s specific experience
\nand capabilities in areas related to the study requirements.
