The intent<br \/>\nof this request is to quantify the connection, feedback mechanisms, and the longer term<br \/>\nprocesses of nearshore shoal migration and available sediment sources. Proposals will focus on<br \/>\nidentifying and understanding both natural processes and potential dredging impacts to the<br \/>\ngeology, the nearshore, and the ecosystem, and consider present-day processes and how sea<br \/>\nlevel change may evolve the nearshore sediment budget. Outcomes from this research will<br \/>\nprovide practical information that can inform long-term sediment management strategies being<br \/>\nconsidered by coastal communities and federal agencies. This research topic was identified as a<br \/>\nresearch need by the Nearshore Processes Community and championed by the US Coastal<br \/>\nResearch Program. Estimated award amounts for individual proposals of $50,000 to $400,000<br \/>\nmay be accepted. Multiple awards may be funded.
