She\u2019s also a mom, wife, and educator who sat down with NAU Communications to share her story.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Tell me about a significant childhood memory and how it has impacted your life today<\/span><\/b>.<span data-contrast=\"none\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">My father loved to read and tell stories. I remember our times reading together, going for walks, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and talking about our favorite books. From an early age, he told me that I would be the first to graduate from college and that he would do everything in his power to make it happen. I saw my father cry for the first time when he saw me wearing my undergraduate regalia. I know he was smiling in heaven when I was able to complete my PhD.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;335559685&quot;:720}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The road has not been easy<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and there were times when I wanted to give up. No one outside my family supported my dreams, not even my teachers.
