The subject of the article,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.childhoodexplorer.org\/afghanistan-teacher\">Life in Afghanistan for a Teacher and Her Students<\/a>, is Turkmani\u2019s sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkmani&#8217;s publication was originally a submission for her ECI407 Social Studies education course. It was an interview assignment based upon one question: Can you tell me about one historical event that you experienced, witnessed, or lived through?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;When I read Zahal\u2019s interview paper that presented the life of her sister, a teacher in Afghanistan, I wondered if she would be open to my sending her work to a journal,&#8221; said NAU faculty member Dr. Barb Veltri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Veltri, Turkmani was contacted within 24 hours of submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Zahal Turkmani was born in Afghanistan, raised internationally, and currently resides in metro Phoenix, Arizona.
