The Stephen Lapan Presentation Forum was held on January 29, 2019, at the College of Education in Flagstaff. The annual forum provided Doctoral students in the Curriculum and Instruction<\/a> and Educational Psychology<\/a> programs an opportunity to present research and discuss findings with the academic community. The Lapan Forum was created to be a collaborative, safe space for Doctoral students to hone their presentation skills before moving to national academic conferences in their fields of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the fifth year the forum was held at the College of Education. Previously it was known as the Doctoral Presentation Forum but was renamed in honor of Dr. Lapan for his excellence as an Emeritus faculty member and former coordinator of the Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral program. Dr. Lapan was a mentor to many of the current faculty members at COE including Drs. Shadow Armfield, Michael Blocher, and Pamela Powell, who provided introductions at the forum and a tribute to Dr. Lapan\u2019s contributions to the scholarly community at the College of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 forum had eight presenters from the two different programs and welcomed Dr. Sara Abercrombie from the Department of Educational Psychology as the keynote speaker. Dr. Abercrombie is a very talented and well-published member of the scholarly community at the College of Education. She was nominated as a Teacher of the Year candidate from COE in 2018. Dr. Abercrombie shared a presentation on mixed methods research with the Lapan audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lapan Forum was organized this year by a committee of Doctoral students under the faculty advisement of Dr. Marti Canipe and Dr. Rebecca Frantz.
