class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n            <div class=\"wp-block-column\"><p>Join us as we engage in critical dialogue about current demands in public education and how future teachers can enact positive change.<\/p>\n<p>Educate2Act is an undergraduate research conference hosted every spring by the College of Education to provide undergrads with an opportunity to develop their interest and voice in research and creative inquiry. Many students consider submitting their work to the Undergraduate Symposium after having a chance to present to their peers and faculty mentors in the College of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Teacher candidates are encouraged to develop existing assignments into a presentation. Faculty can encourage teacher candidates by talking through how assignments can be made relevant for the conference, mentoring their students in research and presentation skills, and offering extra credit to participate in the event both as presenters and attendees. The world has now come to a crossroads of <strong>routes<\/strong>&nbsp;where educational legislation, curriculum, ethics, and philosophy will go into the future. With this in mind, we encourage all aspiring scholars of any background and intellectual discipline to explore and present themes that are affecting education today. If you would like to share the story of Route 66 in your classroom, please utilize any of the lesson plans below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, the Route 66 Association has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historic66az.com\/grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grants<\/a>&nbsp;available, which have funded the creation of some of these lesson plans! Presentation mediums can vary greatly, including the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art exhibit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Create a title for the exhibit and write a brief statement of purpose, including the topic and any related curriculum or community interests you want to explore. The title should be short, memorable, and illuminating. The statement does not need to be scholarly, but should reflect your intent and seriousness in bringing your exhibition to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital story<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A digital story combines photographs, narration, and music to tell a story. These are usually no more than five minutes in length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nHPKX_yMjAo&amp;list=PLCDF53256E40CD7BA&amp;index=2\">&#8220;The Good Fight: a Digital Story by Kate Burns&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spoken word<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spoken word is written on a page but performed for an audience. It relies on heavy use of rhythm, improvisation, rhymes, wordplay, and slang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/powerpoetry.org\/actions\/5-tips-spoken-word\">Five Tips on Spoken Word<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RxsOVK4syxU\">&#8220;Taylor Mali: What Teachers Make&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Photo essay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A photo essay is a collection of images that are placed in a specific order to describe a progression of events, emotions, and concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/digital-photography-school.com\/5-photo-essay-tips\/\">Five Photo Essay Tips<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Poster<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poster sessions combine graphic displays of materials with the opportunity for a more individualized, informal discussion of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vMSaFUrk-FA\\\">Giving an Effective Poster Presentation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Roundtables<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These typically include a short presentation (about 5\u201310 minutes) by the facilitator, followed by discussion and feedback. Roundtable presenters should bring targeted questions to pose to others at the table in order to learn from and with those attending. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Individual paper<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In paper sessions, authors present shortened versions of their paper results in about 10\u201312 minutes. Paper sessions may include several different papers around related topics. After the papers have been presented, comments and questions may be asked by the audience. Authors can read their paper, use a PowerPoint\/Prezi, or otherwise share their information.
