Your academic department may also provide additional funding for travel to conferences. Please contact your academic unit directly to see if funds are available. COE Graduate Student Travel Grant criteria is below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, The Graduate Student Government\u00a0provides approximately $50,000 annually in covered travel expenses for graduate students. This travel money is available to students traveling for research, scholarship, creative activities, career development, or to attend conferences.\u00a0To apply for GSG travel grants visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/graduate-college\/travel-research-grants\/\"><strong>NAU Office of Graduate and Professional Studies for more travel research grant information.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Travel for an individual student or student group to present their invited scholarly or creative work, to accept an award from a professional organization or academic institution, or to attend academic competitions at the regional, national, or international level.<\/li><li>The applicant(s) are graduate students in good academic standing at the time of application and at the time of travel.<\/li><li>The applicant(s) have received written confirmation from the sponsoring organization of the applicant\u2019s acceptance to make a presentation, receive an award, or compete.<\/li><li>Students may receive only one travel award per academic year (July 1\u2013June 30).<\/li><li>We do not fund research activities or professional development.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/college-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/359\/2023\/06\/accessible_Deans_Graduate-Student_Research-Travel_Grant_Updated-2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Dean\u2019s Graduate Research\/Travel Grant Program Application<\/strong><\/a> and send it to <a href=\"mailto:COE-Dean@nau.edu\"><strong>COE-Dean@nau.edu<\/strong><\/a>. The dean will review your application. <a href=\"mailto:Selita.Mitchell@nau.edu\"><strong>Selita Mitchell<\/strong><\/a> will then send an award email confirmation to you and your academic department travel specialist, whom you will work with on reimbursement of travel costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Grants are awarded to degree\u2010seeking graduate students only.<\/li><li>Grants are awarded to students in good academic standing.<\/li><li>Grants are awarded once per academic year (If you do not utilize your award, you can apply for another award).<\/li><li>Applications are processed after the 15th of every month for those submitted during the previous month. Award letters will be emailed by the end of that month (e.g., if you will be traveling on May 12, you should submit an application before April 15 to receive your award letter by the end of April).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What funding will cover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>conference registration<\/li><li>airfare\/mileage<\/li><li>lodging<\/li><li>meals<\/li><li>local transportation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reimbursements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We distribute awards on a reimbursement basis (e.g., after you have traveled and submitted acceptable receipts). You will need to work with your academic department travel specialist to receive your reimbursement. Please contact them prior to your travel to complete paperwork that might be necessary prior to your travel in order to receive your travel reimbursement.
