She won the Oscar G. His research focuses on how the cultures of military institutions in Europe influenced the course of the continent\u2019s violent conflicts from 1914\u20131945 and contributed to the fall of interwar democratic regimes. His book project traces the development of the organizational culture of Spain\u2019s gendarmerie, the Civil Guard, from its founding in the mid-nineteenth century through the tumultuous Second Republic period in the 1930s that preceded the Spanish Civil War. Chamberlin has published articles in <em>War &amp; Society <\/em>and <em>European History Quarterly<\/em>, among other journals,and is also the host of a Spanish history podcast called <em>Historias<\/em>. Prior to coming to NAU, he taught at Bilkent and Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i universities in Turkey. At NAU, he looks forward to bringing his own experiences living in Spain and Turkey into his world history teaching as well as bringing a global perspective to NAU\u2019s modern European history courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-1:1 mobile\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/college-arts-letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/328\/2024\/01\/chamberlin-1-400x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8979\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/328\/2024\/01\/chamberlin-1-400x400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/328\/2024\/01\/chamberlin-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/328\/2024\/01\/chamberlin-1-600x600.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Iuri Bauler Pereira is a Future Faculty Fellow in the Department of History, with a joint appointment in Global Languages and Cultures. He holds a PhD in Latin American and Iberian Cultures from Columbia University (2023). Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Bauler Pereira holds a PhD in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2016) and an MA in History (2012) from the same institution. He is the co-coordinator of the public humanities project Counter-Memories: Dismantling the Legacies of Repression in Latin America, a digital platform documenting initiatives engaged with the legacy of the military regimes in Latin America. His research interests include the intellectual and cultural history of the Americas during the Cold War, transnational connections between the US and Latin America, and US Latine history.
