Navajo County

Population: 107,094
Size: 9,950 sq. mi.
Median Household Income: $38,975

Many developers showed interest in building wind and solar projects in Navajo County in the last 5 years. The County is one of few in Arizona with a wind development ordinance, and it was the first county to house a utility-scale wind plant, Dry Lake I and II. DisGen received a Conditional Use Permit to develop its Marcou Mesa project, but has not proceeded with the project. Five additional developers have put up met towers but have not pursued a Conditional Use Permit to develop wind projects.
There are no current solar projects operating, although some solar developers have expressed interest at the County.
