Colorado River Indian Tribes

Size: 389 sq. mi.

The Colorado River Indian Tribes receive electricity from a hydroelectric power allocation from the Colorado River. While supportive of renewable energy development, the Tribes for the last couple years have been protesting the utility-scale Genesis solar PV project on BLM land about 30 miles west of their tribal reservation due to concerns about the installation’s impact on cultural archaeological sites.
The tribe has considered solar rooftop installations and the Realty Department and Tribal Council are exploring options for these installations in the tribe’s communities.
This information was gathered from web searchers and conversations with tribal representatives. The census data was found online and represents 2010 figures.
