Service Enterprise Initiative Accordion Closed
As a certified Service Enterprise Trainer and Hub Partner, the Civic Service Institute leads training sessions around Northern Arizona for organizations working towards becoming Service Enterprise Certified. The Service Enterprise Initiative led by the Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family allows organizations the opportunity to learn how to more effectively use volunteers to accomplish their mission and address the needs of the community around them. Real Colors Workshop Accordion Closed

- uncover motivators specific to each color temperament
- improve communication with others
- gain an understanding of the four colors (each corresponding to a personality type)
- discover where they fall as an individual on the Real Colors spectrum
- learn to recognize characteristics of each of the four colors
- discuss with fellow workshop participants what it's like to be each color
Presenter InformationCarole Mandino, Ed.D. is a certified Real Colors(r) trainer and has been has used Colors with staff at the Civic Service Institute since its existence. She also leads trainings in BAFA BAFA and Aging Simulations
BaFa ‘BaFa’ Accordion Closed
BaFa ‘BaFa’ is a powerful cross-cultural simulation game to help you understand the effects culture has in everyone’s lives. It can help participants rethink their behavior and attitude toward others, examine their biases and stereotypes, and help participants rethink how they interact with others. BaFa ‘BaFa’ can take from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the size of your group. At least two rooms are needed for this activity.
Presenter InformationCarole D Mandino, EdD has worked at Northern Arizona University for twenty-four years as the Director of the Senior Companion Program, Northern Arizona Regional Gerontology Institute and the Civic Service Institute. Carole’s degree is in educational leadership. This workshop has been delivered to those in local communities, statewide, and in national organizations.
Aging Simulation Accordion Closed
Simulation is a way to help people experience some of the sensory changes that occur as we age. Whether you’re a business organization, a student, or classroom, it is important to understand aging. Perhaps you have a customer who speaks to you in a certain manner, perhaps you’re wanting to be a social worker at a hospital; this simulation will allow you to experience how aging can affect your customers, consumers, or clients.
