CENTER’S HISTORY AND PURPOSE
On January 13, 2016, Northern Arizona University President Rita Cheng announced the formation of the Center for University Access and Inclusion (CUAI). The Center for University Access and Inclusion will become a hub for coordinating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts across our institution. The CUAI will be seeking out and facilitating joint programming, grants and new opportunities for faculty and other qualified individuals to conduct research, which will inform compliance activities and contribute to best practices in higher education. Eventually, the center may host conferences and publish a scholarly journal. These activities will be implemented in phases over time and in coordination with the results of long-term diversity planning. The CUAI is a container for DEI efforts across campus.
