Request a workshop or presentation<\/h2>\n
NAU Career Development partners with faculty, other staff, and student organizations to offer a series of professional development workshops or guest lectures. We can come to your classroom, meeting, or event to deliver an interactive presentation, which allows students to learn from each other and establishes social norms around the importance of career.<\/p>\n
Please submit your request<\/a> at least 3-4 weeks prior to your preferred presentation date; we will respond within 3-5 business days. We request that a minimum of 12 students attend.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn how to explore job options and research career paths within their field of study. Participants will also explore individual strengths, interests, and values to identify possibilities and direction. This presentation features information on salaries, industry growth predictions and commonly recruited skills.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn how to build their professional brand online through LinkedIn to represent their skills, education, experience and career goals. Participants will also learn how to utilize several key features of LinkedIn, including enhanced use of Recommendations and Endorsements, Job searching from LinkedIn, the Alumni Finder tool, keyword and search optimization, and more.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn about appropriate dress and body language for interviews and how to create their own brand while remaining professional. Participants will also reflect on their experiences, learn how to craft a story, and how to appropriately articulate the story to employers through the STAR response method.<\/p>\n

Workshop description:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
Participants will learn to identify their “color spectrum” using four cards that represent key personality types: Blue, Gold, Green, or Orange. Each color has particular strengths and each analyzes, conceptualizes, understands, interacts, and learns differently. Each person is a unique blend of the four colors or styles-a spectrum.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn how to explore job opportunities that align with their skills, experience, and career path with a plethora of online and web-based tools including ONet, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, Handshake, and more. Participants will also learn how to create a “Career Self-Care plan” and effectively evaluate future job offers.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn to identify their personal and professional strengths and talents, and explore new language with which they can communicate those strengths and talents. Participants will engage in an hour-long CliftonStrengths for Students assessment, which measures and narrows natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving into four domains – strategic thinking, executing, influencing, and relationship building<\/strong> – to pinpoint their strengths and talents.<\/li>\n
After completing the assessment, participants will explore their strengths and talents though a customized report which examines how to use their results working with new information and within team settings, making things happen, influencing others, and building relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
