Fall 2020

Tuesday, Sept. 8 – Virtual Legislative Staff  Visit & Info Session
4 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.
Virtual through Zoom
Register on Handshake for the virtual info session on 9/8 at 4:00 or 4:30 to hear from staff from the Capitol and former interns as they join us for a 30-minute overview of the internship application process, what to expect daily, transferrable skills learned, where are former interns now, compensation, and more!

Monday, Sept. 14 – Virtual Application Work Session
3-6 p.m.
Virtual through Zoom
Need help with your application for the Arizona State Legislative Internship? Drop-in Zoom Work Session open from 3-6 p.m. and get the help you need from Melissa Pokorny, NAU’s Internship Coordinator. This will be informal work time; there will not be a formal presentation or workshop, but staff will be available to answer your application questions. Register in Handshake; drop-ins welcome!

Wednesday, Sept. 23 – Legislative Internship Application Deadline
5 p.m.
All application materials including a completed application, personal statement, unofficial transcript, two signed letters of recommendation, and a current resume must be submitted via Handshake by 5 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 28 – First-round Virtual Interview Prep Session (Legislature, Supreme Court, Governor’s Office)
5-7 p.m.
Virtual through Zoom
Applicants who are invited to the first-round interviews on NAU’s campus for the Legislative Internship Program can attend a prep session learning how to craft, refine, and practice answering interview questions.
Register in Handshake; drop-ins welcome!
Note: The official NAU Interviews will also be held virtually and details will be shared as they become available from the Capitol.

Thursday, Oct. 1 & Friday, Oct. 2 – First-round Virtual Interviews (Legislature, Supreme Court, Governor’s Office)
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Individual interview times TBD)
Virtual (software TBD)
Applicants will be interviewed by members of the Legislature, Supreme Court, and Governor’s Office. Interviews last about 15 minutes. Details will be shared as they become available from the Capitol.

Monday, Oct. 19 – Second-round Virtual Interview Prep Session (Legislature, Supreme Court, Governor’s Office)
5-7 p.m.
Virtual through Zoom
Applicants who are invited to the second-round interviews at the state capitol with the Legislature, Supreme Court, and/or Governor’s Office can attend a prep session to practice for the interview.
Register in Handshake; drop-ins welcome!

Monday, Nov. 4 through Friday, Nov. 8 – Second-round Interviews at the State Capitol (Legislature, Supreme Court, Governor’s Office)
Individual interview times TBD
State Capitol, Phoenix
Selected applicants will travel to Phoenix for second-round interviews with members of the Legislature, Supreme Court, and/or Governor’s Office.
