3 Ways YOU Can Avoid Job Scams

Posted by admin on November 20, 2012

1. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

Jobs that tell of a get-rich-quick story, making money from doing hardly any work, or require you to pay any upfront fee are typically a scam. A real job posting shows the duties, qualifications, and experience required. Remember the phrase, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” And like the job market, you won’t be handed your dream job on a platter with the accompanying garnishes.

2. Unmonitored Sites (Craigslist)

Certain sites, like Craigslist, where you can find anything from a free couch to a girlfriend, might not be the best place to find a job. Sites like these are unmonitored and won’t be able to tell you if a posting is a scam or not.

3. The “job” is getting other people to sign up, and those people get other people to sign up and so forth… also known as a PYRAMID SCHEME

If the job requires a yearly “membership,” and requires you to get other people to sign up, then it’s what we call a Pyramid Scheme. The idea is that once you get people to sign up and pay a fee, and they get other people to sign up, this ends up being a pyramid. These are scams as well. And you might lose a few friends in the process.
