Fitness Programs


Welcome to all things fitness at Campus Rec. No matter what your exercise preferences or skill level, we offer a wide range of enjoyable and activities to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle. We provide a wide variety of fitness opportunities both in group settings and 1-on-1 in our personal training program.

Group Fitness

Explore a vibrant fitness community at NAU with our group fitness program. We offer a wide range of classes, including yoga, cycling, Pilates, and more. Our certified instructors will lead you through fun and safe workouts, with all the necessary equipment provided. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, everyone is welcome to join. Find a class that suits your needs and keeps you motivated to reach your health and fitness goals. Sign up online to secure your spot and remember, all our classes are free!

Class Descriptions

Cycle: Get ready for an exhilarating cardio challenge in our cycle class! This high-energy workout will push your cardiovascular endurance to the limit with sprints, climbs, and jumps. Join us and increase your stamina for the ride of your life.

Total Strength: Total Strength is our signature strength workout that welcomes everyone. We break down the movements so you can master the weights safely while fueling your energy for the week. Come for the gains, stay for the community. All levels. Zero experience required.

 

H.I.T.T.: Feel strong and powerful with this interval-based format that works both strength and cardio in a fun and challenging circuit. Get ready to work hard and raise your heart rate!

 

 

All-levels Yoga: No matter your experience level, our all-levels yoga class is here for you. Join us to work on your breathing, flexibility, and strength while letting go of stress. Everyone is welcome.

 

Yin Yoga: An intense and profoundly rejuvenating practice working to safely stretch deeper muscles and connective tissues using slow, deep stretches. Postures are held anywhere from 3-7 minutes and make an excellent complement to other yoga forms.

 

Vinyasa Yoga: Elevate your yoga practice with vinyasa yoga. Flow through movements with breath, increasing body awareness and endurance in this continuous movement class.

 

Meditation: Come take a 30 minute guided meditation! This class will get you relaxed with a different guided meditation each week. You may experience light movement, breathwork, and different meditation techniques in this class.

 

Kick boxing: Unleash your inner fighter in our kick boxing class. This full-body workout improves cardio and strength while teaching you proper punching techniques. Get fit and have fun.

Zumba: Ditch the boring workouts and dance your way to fitness in our Zumba class. This Latin-based dance class incorporates pop, hip hop, and international beats for a fun and calorie-burning workout.

 

Hip-Hop: A workout that combines dance, cardio, strength, and flexibility all to the beat of the music! Fun for all levels!

 

Ballet: This is not your average barre class! Learn fundamental ballet vocabulary and technique while getting a full-body conditioning workout. Sculpt long, lean muscles, improve your posture, balance, and flexibility through graceful, controlled movements inspired by classical dance. No prior dance experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

 

Barre: This dance based class will have you feeling like a dancer while getting a good sweat in! Come join in the Barre fun while toning your body.

 

Pilates: Activate your core muscles and increase body awareness in our Pilates class. Using your own body weight, this class helps build strength, stability, and flexibility. All levels are welcome, and some classes incorporate props for added challenge.

 

Pilates Sculpt: Tone and define your entire body with Pilates Sculpt. This dynamic class combines classic Pilates principles with light weights and resistance props to build long, lean muscles, strengthen your core, and improve your posture. You’ll leave feeling stronger, and more flexible.

Personal Training

Get personalized fitness training from NAU trainers, who are nationally certified and dedicated to helping you reach your goals. With a focus on education, motivation, and guidance, our trainers will create a tailored exercise program that suits your fitness level and experience. Expect fitness assessments, goal setting, proper workout techniques, and valuable health education to accompany your training experience. Let us guide you on your fitness journey.

How To Get Started

What You Need to Know

Looking to get started with personal training? Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Fill out a client intake form (click below).
  2. Within 2 business days, our fitness manager will review your form and get in touch with you.
  3. Once you’re assigned a trainer, they will reach out to schedule a free consultation. During this consultation, you’ll discuss your goals and complete any necessary paperwork.
  4. Wondering how to purchase personal training packages? It’s easier than ever with our online portal.

Consultations are free. In your consultation session, a personal trainer will go over goals, session options, your schedule, and a movement assessment upon request. Movement assessments include a body composition testing, a blood pressure check, heart rate monitoring, and an assessment of your muscular strength and endurance. Your trainer will interpret the results to tailor your training program specifically to your needs.

Discover your fitness level and monitor your journey to reaching your objectives. Our expert trainers will assist you in evaluating:

  • cardiorespiratory endurance
  • muscular fitness
  • flexibility and balance
  • body composition

Our trainers will perform these assessments and analyze your results using standardized fitness classifications.

 

*Please note that each person is limited to one personal fitness assessment per semester.

More Personal Training Information

Fill out your Client Intake Form. Then you can purchase your training sessions or fitness assessment online or at the front desk of the Recreation Center within the Health and Learning Center (Bldg. 25).

Sessions that begin late will end as scheduled. Arrival more than 15 minutes late without notice will result in the loss of a session without a refund. Client-requested schedule changes or cancellations require 12-hour advance notice from the client to the trainer. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the session without a refund.

All session packages have expiration dates from date of purchase that are all follows:

  • 1 session: 30 days
  • 4 sessions: 45 days
  • 8 sessions: 60 days
  • 12 sessions: 90 days
  • 16 sessions: 120 days

All purchases are final. There are no refunds or transfers for personal training sessions.
