Homecoming is going to look a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to celebrate! Join your fellow Lumberjacks, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members at the exciting lineup of virtual events on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (Nov. 5 – 7). Learn more about those events and how to attend on the Homecoming 2020 webpage. If you want to celebrate in-person with your quaranteam, keep these things in mind to maximize fun and minimize risk:
· Avoid close, confined spaces. Get together outside where you’ll have plenty of room to physically distance and you don’t have to worry about poor ventilation.
· Keep it small. Limit your gathering to 10 people or less. Ideally, these people are on your quaranteam.
· Mask up. When you are around others, even if they are on your quaranteam, keep your mask on when you aren’t eating or drinking. Speaking of eating and drinking…
· Sharing isn’t caring during COVID. If you want to celebrate with food and drink, consider doing so in a lower-risk way which can include having each member of your quaranteam bring their own food and drink. If you are 21+ plus and are planning on consuming alcohol, try to stick to the lower-risk drinking limits and use risk reduction strategies.
· Jacks have each other’s backs. Look out for your fellow Lumberjacks. If you think someone might be experiencing alcohol poisoning or might be in another unsafe situation, call for help. The signs of alcohol poisoning include: cold skin, unresponsive, puking, slow breathing. If you notice these signs call 911 immediately, then put the person on their side and stay with them until help arrives. Learn more about socializing safer during COVID
