{"id":43,"date":"2018-08-19T21:32:56","date_gmt":"2018-08-20T04:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vendor.hub.wp.nau.edu\/athletic-training\/application-requirements\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T17:54:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T17:54:55","slug":"application-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/athletic-training\/application-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Program admissions<\/h1>\n<p><strong>The Athletic Training, MS program is offered at both the Flagstaff and Phoenix Bioscience campuses. <\/strong>You will be given an opportunity to state your campus preference at the time of your interview and, although we attempt to place everyone on their preferred campus, we cannot guarantee it.<\/p>\n<p>Admission decisions will be determined by using the application materials and a formal interview with at least 2 faculty members for qualified applicants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for Admission FOR Current NAU Students entering\/completing their last 2 semesters (Senior status):<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Complete an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.applyweb.com\/northazg\/index.ftl\">NAU Graduate Admissions Application<\/a> no later than January 5 to be considered for admission into the MSAT Program.\u00a0<em> Applications submitted by October 1 will be provided admission decisions by December 1 (interviews will occur in November)<\/em>. Applications submitted between Oct. 2 and Jan. 5 will be provided admissions decisions by February 1 (interviews will occur in January). Current NAU students will need to submit:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>An unofficial transcript at time of application<\/li>\n<li>2 letters of recommendation (one letter must be from a certified athletic trainer)<\/li>\n<li>Provide responses to questions related to the desire to pursue a career in athletic training<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Applications for Admission for students NOT currently enrolled at NAU or ASU College of Health Solutions:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested students must first apply to the NAU MSAT program using a third-party application portal call<strong> ATCAS<\/strong>.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/atcas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">ATCAS application<\/a> will open on July 1<sup>st<\/sup> and applications are due by Jan. 5. Application submitted by October 1 will be provided an admissions decision by December 1. If students are admitted to the program and accept the offer, the students will then complete an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nau.edu\/GradCol\/admissions\/application\/\">NAU Graduate Admissions Application<\/a> no later than May 15.<\/p>\n<p>The first two courses for the cohort graduating in May 2028 will start July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<!-- shortcode-block -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-block\">\n          <div class=\"block-body\">\n      <div><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><h2>NAU AT + ASU Partnership<\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>The NAU MSAT Program will guarantee up to 5 spots in the program to eligible students enrolled in an ASU College of Health Solutions program.&nbsp; The NAU MSAT Program may accept more than 5 students, but only 5 guaranteed spots are available.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Eligibility for Application\/Admission:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students within an ASU College of Health Solutions that are entering their last semester, or last two semesters (Fall and Spring) before completing their program (graduation in May). Prior to entering our program July 1, the student must possess a bachelor&rsquo;s degree.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible ASU students will apply through NAU Graduate Admissions.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.applyweb.com\/northazg\/index.ftl?_gl=1*1tfxt2p*_gcl_au*ODAzNTI4NDQ0LjE3NDI1NzQxMTg.*FPAU*ODAzNTI4NDQ0LjE3NDI1NzQxMTg.*_ga*NTIyODgyODI1LjE3NDI1NzMzMzk.*_ga_3Z09XZBPK5*czE3NDg1MzUyMDAkbzUxJGcxJHQxNzQ4NTM1Mjc4JGo1NSRsMCRoMjU5OTIyMDQ.\">The NAU Graduate Admissions application<\/a> will open in August for enrollment starting the following summer term (July 1).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Applications submitted by October 1 will be provided an admission decision by December 1. or better, or in progress at time of application to the program.<\/li>\n<li>Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Biology (basic biology content), Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Kinesiology (Biomechanics and\/or Applied Human Movement also accepted), Exercise Physiology, Human Nutrition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Minimum GPA for regular admission is 3.0 or above. \u00a0GPA that fall between 2.5-2.99, may be considered for conditional admission<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation (one from a certified athletic trainer)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/atcas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">ATCAS<\/a> application (if accepted into the program, you will be required to complete an NAU Office of Graduate and Professional Studies application)<\/li>\n<li>An interview with one or more program faculty (to be scheduled after application review)<\/li>\n<li>If accepted into the program, you must be CPR certified prior to beginning the program<span data-teams=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\"><\/div>\n<p>Upon admission, we require that you have a physical exam by a physician;
