{"id":170,"date":"2022-04-27T21:53:50","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T21:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/asnau\/?page_id=170"},"modified":"2023-08-28T20:14:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T20:14:27","slug":"our-impact","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/asnau\/our-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Serving the Lumberjack Community<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Fall 2022 Impact Report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU has been making impacts this Fall &#8211; check out our Fall 2022 report to see how we have worked for the undergraduate student body. <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/245\/2022\/12\/Fall-2022-Report.pdf\">Fall 2022 Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Arizona Board of Regents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, ASNAU attended the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) meeting in Tucson to support NAU&#8217;s minimum wage, fee transparency, and menstrual equity. We also had virtual meetings with Arizona representatives and Senators to discuss the need for more funding in high education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Community Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU has participated in more than 70 hours of community service, including collecting trash around campus and a cancer support &#8216;trunk or treat&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conference of Student Government Associations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, ASNAU attended the Conference of Student Government Associations (COSGA) where they were able to discuss, collaborate, and connect with other schools through speakers, workshops, town halls, &amp; more!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extended Cline Library Hours<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To support your studying, ASNAU annually funds the Cline Library to keep them open 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gender-Neutral Restrooms Signage Donation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU donated $500 to provide inclusive signage at the gender-neutral restrooms on campus<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gold Axe Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each semester, ASNAU co-sponsors the Gold Axe Awards with the Office of Leadership &amp; Engagement, and Alumni Association. The award honors those who are committed to excelling in life outside of the classroom through leading student organizations, providing service to the community, involvement in their academic college, and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Green Office Certified<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are proud to have been awarded the Mount Elden Silver Level Green Office Certification from the Office of Sustainability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homecoming Carnival<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every Fall semester, ASNAU holds a carnival during Homecoming that includes rides, games, activities, and concessions. In 2021, we had over 6,500 students attend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kiss My Axe Shirts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every semester, ASNAU creates new Kiss My Axe t-shirts and makes them available to NAU Flagstaff Mountain Undergraduate Students at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEAF Fund Donation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU has donated a total of $165,000 to the Lumberjack Emergency Assistance Fund. The LEAF Fund assists NAU students facing unforeseen crises or hardships, that require immediate one-time financial assistance. <\/p>\n<p><strong>LGBTQIA+ Scholarship Donation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU donated $13,510 to the NAU LGBTQIA+ Commission Scholarship Fund. This helped the scholarship become endowed, meaning students can now receive money from the fund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LumberJack Concert Series<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every year, ASNAU collaborates with SUN Entertainment to put on concerts throughout the semester. In the 2021-2022 school year, we had over 1,800 total attendees at Japanese Breakfast, Surfaces, and Wallows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meal Plan Options &amp; Donation Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU advocated for a 5 &amp; 7 meals a week meal plan option as well as a donation program. Starting this Fall, those who have leftover meal swipes at the end of each week can donate them to students in need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Menstrual Product Dispensers\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ASNAU Women&#8217;s Health Committee partnered with Aunt Flow to install menstrual product dispensers in the University Union, Du Bois Center, and various academic building restrooms. Dispensers are stocked every Friday with pads and tampons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Fee Descriptions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASNAU advocated for transparency by implementing student fee descriptions in LOUIE.
