Senior Military Science Instructor
Master Sergeant John Ozment
Master Sergeant John Ozment was born in Dyersburg, TN. He enlisted in the Army in June 2002 as a M1 Tank Armor Crewman (19K). He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, KY.
MSG Ozment has held numerous leadership positions to include Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. His previous assignments include 1st Squadron, 16 Cavalry Regiment, Fort Knox, KY; 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, Fort Carson, CO; 1st Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment, Fort Knox, KY; 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, Fort Carson, CO; 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, Fort Carson, CO; Operations Group (Scorpion Team) Fort Irwin, CA; Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th U.S Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, TX; and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th U.S Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, TX.
MSG Ozment deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Tank Gunner and Tank Commander, Operation Spartan Shield as a Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant, and Operation Bright Star as a First Sergeant.
MSG Ozment’s military education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, the United States Army Drill Sergeant School, and the Maneuver-Senior Leaders Course. MSG Ozment is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Troy University.
MSG Ozment’s military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (seven Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (five Oak Leaf Clusters), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He has been Knighted in to the Order of Saint George (Black and Bronze Medallion), and is a recipient of the Armor and Cavalry Leadership Award.
