Nashelly is a molecular ecologist interested in ecology, conservation genetics, and restoration. Specifically, she is interested in understanding how native and invasive foundation plant species respond to climate change, how the responses of these species affect their ecological communities, and how can this knowledge be applied towards species conservation and restoration projects. Nashelly is also interested in how plant-animal interactions change over ecological gradients and in wildlife population genetics. Her research has focused on tropical and temperate forests employing field, greenhouse and genetic (fingerprinting and sequencing) approaches.
