Assessment of Risk for Zoonotic Disease Transmission in Southern Arizona

Maddie’s current research project is an assessment of risk for zoonotic disease transmission within southern Arizona. The diseases she is studying are dengue fever and chikungunya, both mosquito (A. egyptii)-borne diseases prevalent in this area. The research objectives include describing the abundance/distribution of A. egyptii within southern Arizona and determining the rate of prevalence of dengue and chikungunya in mosquito vectors.
