M.S. – Mechanical Engineering, Spring 2015
B.S. – Environmental Engineering, Fall 2012
For the past year, Cherise has been working with ISES on a tribal renewable energy project. This study involves a techno-economic study to understand the performance of the utility scale solar power station from a financial and design optimization standpoint. This project is supported by the US Department of Energy’s American Indian Research and Education Initiative (DOE-AIREI), with technical support provided by Sandia National Laboratories.
She is also working with NAU’s InterTribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) on the project, in particular the Tribal Clean Energy Resource Center. For the past several years, she has worked with ITEP’s Environmental Education Outreach Program (EEOP) to reach out to the Native American youth by educating them on the sciences and renewable energy related topics.
In the future, Cherise hopes to work with the renewable energy industry and also help tribes implement renewable systems on their land.
